Missa Brevis is a short and characterful setting of the Latin Mass for SATB choir (with divisi). Each movement embodies the character of the words, from haunting and pleading settings of the Kyrie and Agnus Dei to a joyful Gloria incorporating a middle plainsong-inspired section sandwiched between a jubilant conversation between the upper and lower voices. The Sanctus and Benedictus are harmonically pleasing with gradual crescendi and diminuendi.

An important aspect of this work is the different harmonic textures presented from the sparse opening of the Agnus Dei to full eight-part chords. This work will be a valuable addition to any choir library.
