The Benedictus was written for the lay clerks of St Asaph Cathedral in December 2015 for use at the Advent Eucharist, when the psalm is displaced by this canticle. Melodic in nature, it pays some homage to the likes of Stanford but with a slightly modern edge!

There are two endings; one to be used if this setting is sung at the Eucharist and then another with a Gloria for general use at Matins.
