The Prayer of St Francis was commissioned by Richard Harrison, Director of Music at St Francis of Asissi, Welwyn Garden City.
Richard does sterling work running a choir of trebles and adults at the church, who undertake a week-long Cathedral trip annually.
The Prayer of St Francis was conceived as a reflective work which should be sung with a good legato and sense of line, with
plenty of shape. The tempo is quite slow, so good care should be taken to allow the choir to breathe regularly and naturally without the
work seeming disjointed.
