This setting was written for Father David Fisher and the service of his induction as Rector of the Parish Church of Sarum St Martin, Salisbury which took place on Tuesday 6th November, 2018.

A free style of singing is suggested for the plainchant verses which may be sung by a solo cantor or a small group of singers. The style recommended for the two choir verses should be relaxed, flexible and prayerful. Generally, dynamics have been omitted and singers should form their own sensitive phrasing within the texture. The chant is the 'simple' form of Salve Regina, taken from Liber Usualis (No 801, 1961), Anthems to the B.V.M., p.279.

Salve, Regina,
mater misericordiae:
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules, filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, Advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis, Virgo Maria.
