This set of responses was composed for Jonathan Hope and The St Cecilia Singers of Gloucester - Gloucester Cathedral’s chamber choir - which in 2024 celebrates its 70th anniversary.

Like most of my liturgical music, these are composed with the lovely acoustic of that building in mind - something I can hardly avoid, having sung with the choir for several decades under John Sanders, (first performance of The Reproaches!), David Briggs, Andrew Nethsingha and, more recently, Adrian Partington.

The Responses involve occasional S and B divisi which help to flesh out some of the sonorities
