This setting of a text by Pope St Gregory the Great (540-604) began life as an upper voices motet which was composed for Contrapunctus High Voices. It was first performed in concert at St John the Evangelist Cathedral, Cleveland, Ohio in 2015. Shortly after, a full choir edition for SSATB was requested and this version has since been performed by a number of choirs in the States and in the UK.

O God whose hand is a suitable text for liturgical or concert use. It describes God's hand in the creation of the universe, a mystery beyond the full comprehension of the human mind despite our best scientific efforts to explain things.
